Panic Attacks by seeing Blood/Gore
IT IS RECOMMENDED TO SEEK A THERAPIST For your panic attacks and get treatment but If you can't for some reason you can follow the tips here, Its not guaranteed you will recover but follow a leap of faith and see what happens.
In this post, I will discuss how I recovered from my panic attacks by seeing gore, blood, pain and torture in general.
When you see any kind of blood and gore, does this happens to your body? :
1) Rapid heartbeat
2) Sweating
3) Dizziness
4) Feeling of doom
5) Nausea or you start vomiting
6) Your vision gets blurry/you see everything dark or white
7) You pass out
First step is to understand that pain is not torture made for humans. Viewing pain as a negative thing would increase anxiety and panic attack. Please read all of these because It's very important to view pain as a positive thing.
Pain is an essential part of the human experience, and it serves important functions in our survival and overall well-being. While pain can be unpleasant and challenging to endure, it plays a crucial role in keeping us safe and alert, promoting healing, and helping us maintain a healthy lifestyle.
One primary purpose of pain is to act as a warning signal. When we experience pain, it alerts us to potential harm or danger, prompting us to take immediate action to protect ourselves. For example, if you accidentally touch a hot stove, the pain sensation triggers a reflexive withdrawal response, preventing further damage to your skin.
Furthermore, pain acts as a teacher, helping us learn from our mistakes. When we encounter painful situations, we tend to avoid repeating the actions or behaviors that caused the pain. This learning process allows us to adapt and make better choices in the future, promoting our overall safety and well-being.
Pain also serves as a crucial indicator of our body's health. It can signal underlying medical conditions or injuries that require attention and treatment. For instance, persistent or severe pain may indicate an infection, inflammation, or a more serious underlying condition that needs medical intervention. By drawing attention to these issues, pain encourages us to seek medical help and take necessary steps for recovery.
In addition to its protective functions, pain plays a role in the healing process. When we experience an injury, pain acts as a catalyst for repair. It triggers the release of certain chemicals and immune responses that promote tissue healing and regeneration. By informing us about the site and severity of the injury, pain helps us to take appropriate measures to facilitate healing, such as resting the affected area or seeking medical assistance.
It's important to note that while pain is essential, the experience of unnecessary or chronic pain can have detrimental effects on our physical and mental well-being. Medical science continues to explore ways to alleviate pain effectively while maintaining its crucial functions. By understanding the role of pain and developing appropriate interventions, healthcare professionals strive to strike a balance between ensuring our survival and minimizing unnecessary suffering.
In summary, pain is not just unnecessary torture for humans. It is a vital part of our survival and overall health. Pain acts as a warning system, a teacher, and an indicator of our body's well-being. By paying attention to pain and responding appropriately, we can navigate the challenges it presents, promote healing, and live healthier lives.
Second Step is to get realize you can't stop a thought. Imagine a normal day, you are just chilling and those thoughts of blood and gore comes to your mind and get a full blown panic attack. Sounds familiar?
Anxiety's job is to eliminate all the threats as quickly as possible or run away from it
Now the problem is, your mind will try very hard to eliminate all of those thoughts. Anxiety will see the thoughts as a threat and It will try to make it go away. It's impossible, If I told you to not think of a pink elephant, What would be the first thing you would do? You will think of a pink elephant. When you try hard to not think of a thought, It will 100% come.
What I want you to do is, Let those thoughts come. Yes you read it correct. Let it come and allow your body to panic.
Let me tell you why,
Panic attack on blood and gore comes like these :
Normal Day > Thoughts of blood and gore comes > your body begins to panic > you try to not think of it > more thoughts of blood and gore comes > you panic even more > repeat
And this cycle will keep repeating until you pass out of dizziness or you reach maximum level of panic attack. It depends on your symptoms.
I want you to replace the cycle like this :
Normal Day > Thoughts of blood and gore comes > your body begins to panic > you allow your thoughts to come and allow your body to panic > More thoughts stops coming > panic attack goes away.
What this does is it tells your brain to "look thoughts are coming but I am not reacting and seeing these as a Threat, I am not trying to make it go away, It's not a threat that needs to go" When your brain realizes this, It stops panicking.
What we are doing is try to make these thoughts as non threatening, so your brain never panics on this.
Now in order to make it successful, You have to endure the symptoms of the panic attack for a while. When your thoughts inevitably comes, the panic attack will come as well, It's impossible to not make it come, but It is possible to not make it last long enough so you pass out or get dizzy.
Trust the progress, focus on recovery rather then worrying about the panic attacks. Tell yourself that, If I endure it for a while, It will go away. And It always does
What I did when these thoughts came and I started panicking is smile, laugh, make a joke out of it. I told these thoughts,
"Yeah come at me, Let's see how hard you are gonna make me panic!" or
"Ohh what do we have here today, thoughts and panic attacks? Oh is that the best you can do?" or
"What If I didn’t run? What If I am not a coward? What If I want these thoughts to make me panic? What If I want it to try?"
It sounds cringe but It works.
Common Mistake 1 : Some people try to use 'allowing thoughts and panic' as a Method to make it go away. Remember we are not trying to make it go away, We are letting it come inside your body. We don't mind it. That is the only way to freedom.
Common Mistake 2 : Don't use humor as a method to make it go away either. Use humor to make yourself brave
How do I stop panicking when I see blood, gore or torture?
Let's be honest, We will see unwanted blood or gore sometimes in the future.
In order to stop panicking while seeing it live, It's same as allowing method.
See it > Allow thoughts and panic > body will stop panicking.
I would also suggest watching movies and training yourself to stop panicking.
Start watching movies with very mild or few violence. Once you stop panicking on that, watch the very violent ones. Remember to take it slow. Don't go into violent ones until you have stopped panicking on the previous ones.
Ash vs Evil Dead is a fantastic series, because the violence increases as the season progress. Still I would not recommend until you have watched the very mild ones.
